Completed in 24 hours and enjoyed it so much. Couldnt wait to get online to get to the next stage. Learnt alot of basic info which i can use in my module 2 level 1 BSL exam on 29th March!!

I found this really helpful as a hearing person wishing to talk to Deaf friends at church. I feel the combination of an online Course and the opportunity to practice in the 'real world' gave me the incentive to make a start, even though I lack confidence with my signing. I would reccommend the course to anyone who also has the opportunity to use what the learnt in real situations.

I am learning British Sign Language in Coledge Ceredigion Aberystwyth,i join this site a few days ago it is proving to be a very good pactise for me I am also hard of hearing and wear two hearing aids so sign language will be a second language for me.This B.S.L course is marvelous for learners like me it helps us with finger spelling and the way people sign.I am glad i signed up for the course it will help me with my volunteer work with the R.N.I.D and age cocern thankyou Pamela

This course is a great introduction to British Sign Language. The lessons are well planned, easy to follow, you can work entirely at your own pace and help is always there when you need it. I have enjoyed this course immensely. It taught me a good amount of BSL and I was able to take it at my own pace. I particularly appreciated being able to go back and revise previous lessons whenever I chose. Simon the instructor was clear and precise, which was very helpful for a beginner, and always responded quickly to any questions I had. Having just completed the Online Course I'd like to say what an enjoyable and encouraging start it has been for me in learning BSL. All the signs are introduced in useful, thematic contexts which makes them easy to assimilate and use together in a practical way. I found that each signed word and phrase was presented so clearly, accompanied by a careful description, that it is possible to understand exactly how to reproduce them correctly from the start, and this has built up my confidence to start using them. The assessment tests after each unit were particularly good for finding out how well I had learned the new material and gave a foretaste of what it will be like when I am able to converse with Deaf people in real life. I'm now looking forward to building up my vocabulary using the Sign to Me CD and then to join an evening class in the autumn.

I have just finished the bsl course. the most amazing course i have ever done. i used sign language when talking to a friend and it was so amzing that i could communicate with her. i could see the hapiness in her eyes as we signed to eachother. i would most definately recommend this course to anybody. it is not something that is impossible as you can access it at anytime. The best course for me!! I am going to continue studying BSL. This is my starting point. Thanks xxxx

I have just finished this course and would recommend it to anyone, I run a hotel and on the odd occasion have deaf people stay here, they were extremely pleased to have someone to talk to if and when they needed something. The price was so cheap for what I got I couldn't believe it. I learnt the basic finger spelling when I was 15 and always wanted to learn more - I'm so glad I did - thankyou for making it happen.

I studied a beginners BSL course at college many years ago and wanted to refresh my memory, in the hope of continuing it further. The course was great, very well put together and you can do it in your own time. My problem now is that there is nowhere teaching the next level in my area. Please do a follow up course for those of us who want to continue learning this valuable skill.

A real confidence-builder for a complete novice like myself! This absorbing course not only teaches basic British Sign Language in a friendly, easy-to-understand way, it also makes the pupil try to grasp an understanding of what it means to be Deaf or hard of hearing. I am a (hearing) veterinary surgeon and will find the signs I have learnt from this course particularly valuable in helping me work with owners of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. It has inspired me to seek local BSL courses- I hope to start BSL Level 1 this September at my local night school.

Wanted to learn how to sign. the course made it so easy and helped me pick it up alot quicker than i thought it would. U have the sign in for a year tho it only took me a few weeks to complete, however once u have finished the course you are able to go back to any section and re-cap as often as u like on any material!
recommend it to ANYONE, very well laid out, easy to use. easy to follow and very clean on what to do.
not only do they show you how to do the sign but if you are unsure they also allow u to click on an explination on how to do it and give u useful tips on how to remeber certain signs.
found it much easier than a classroom environment and worth every penny!!

Excellent introduction course to those who are interested in the basics of BSL. From this course I am now able to have a basic conversation with a BSL user and to understand basic conversations between signers. The online version is great as you can do it in your own time whenever you want, you don't have to cancel other arrangements once every week as well as you save time and money on transport. The price of the course itself is cheap... The programme is easy to follow and I learnt a lot indeed. I will definitely recommend it to everyone!

An introduction to sign language is incredible value for money, it is interesting and lots of fun and the format makes learning really easy. I would recommend that everyone should sign up for this course, even if you dont have any one in your family or friends who are deaf, it is an excelent starting point in understanding BSL, people want to learn a new language for when they travel to different countries, and some languages are taught in school to equip children with the tools to communicate with people from different countries, which of course is a positive thing, yet BSL is not part of any curriculum that i am aware, and therefore hearing children are taught how to communicate in French, German etc. but BSL which would help everyone to communicate within there own communities promoting inclusion of all deaf people is not taught as part of the curriculum. I find this very strange, especially after using this course and seeing how much fun it is to learn, i am sure given the opportunity all children would enjoy learning this exciting language. Finally i would like to say that Simon who is the main point of contact, with regards any concerns, provided extremly quick responses to any questions put to him and consistanly from day one provided outsanding customer service. Dont think about doing this course, just do it!!!

Unable to go to a taught class due to a back injury, this has been brilliant. The lessons are presented well & explained clearly. Staff are friendly & always helpful. It is also very good value for money.
It is difficult to write a review & do the course justice. I guess the highest praise I can give it is that, in a relatively short space of time, it has helped me decide that I want to become a BSL interpreter.
Would recommend this to anyone & everyone. Whether you want a career change or just to have another skill, it is well worth it.
I'm quite sad it's all over!

I really enjoyed taking part in this course .
I am currently studying for BSL Level I at Blanche Neville in North London and have found it extremely useful to have this course to follow in my own time at home.
I have found using books to learn sign very difficult so it was great the way the video clips were available for repeating and extra understanding - have really benefitted from this programme and would recommend it to other beginners .

The site is easy to understand and navigate and the video demonstrations are very clear.
