I would recommend this course to anyone. Learning sign language is something I've wanted to do for a long time and this online course gave me the opportunity. Its really easy to follow and breaks things down into nice easy chunks to learn. Gives you a great footing for taking it further.

This course had a very good structure which made it easy to learn at my own pace. The videos were easy to follow and I liked being able to do the assessments as many times as I wanted until I felt comfortable to move on. I've wanted to learn BSL for a while and but didn't want to learn at the teachers pace. This course is excellent in that you can learn each area at your own pace and go over material time and time again! I've thoroughly enjoyed this course and finished within a few weeks. I am a nursery nurse and the Special Needs Co-Ordinator in my setting and found an increasing number of people with hearing impairments coming into the setting and had no way of communicating myself. Now I feel i can hold a little/basic conversation with them and also make those people feel welcome. Well worth the money!

I thoroughly enjoyed this course, i found the time subject very difficuly but with the added help of the memory part, i finally got it and passed that part. I Finished the course a couple of weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed all of it. The fact that you have access to the site for a year is great and I will definitely be going back to refresh my memory from time to time. Am now applying for a level 1 BSL course confident that I'll be able to pick it up and also have fun doing so.

This course was really good, I feel like I learnt an awful lot within a short space of time. Mainly did it to see if I would like to sign up for the Level 1 BSL, and definately it has grabbed my interest enough to convince me to do that. Will be reccomending to others in the future, If you are not sure weather to try this online course, my advice is that it is well worth the £15, so go on!

I have really enjoyed it and it has given me an excellent foundation...I mostly signed up to see if I would be motivated enough and enjoy it enough to attend BSL classes... seems I am :) Also thanks to the chap signing each word,letter and number. Its lovely being able to do it in your own time, communication & advice is easily accessible and I would highly recommend this course as a taster and revision tool.

This is a really fun yet comprehensive course, an ideal way of learning the basics of sign language. I really enjoyed it and am definitely going to carry on learning. I am also hoping to use this learning in a voluntary role working with D/deaf people in the near future.

One of my friends told me about this course as i had just finished a teaching assistant course. i thought it would come in useful. i really enjoyed the course and my children have been really supportive. the course is easy to follow and a year is plenty of time to complete the course and practice what you have learned.

This course was worth every penny. I was expecting to learn how to spell my name and a couple other bits, but it was actually so much more. Learning about deaf people and organisations that represent people that are deaf was great, really opens your eyes. Incorporating it into an assignment was an exellent idea. Not sure if it's me, but i found this course quite easy. BSL really should be taught in schools, instead of the languages that are probably never going to be used! Thank you for this opportunity to learn the basics before i proceed with higher level courses.

I really enjoyed the course. As a complete beginner i was a bit worried i wouldnt be able to pick it up but after a couple of lessons i really began to get into the swing of things. I was really pleased to at last complete the BSL course. I am able to communicate with a friend in my church who is deaf with greater confidence. My friend Alice (who completed the course in May) and I visit a deaf group once a month and we are also attending another class. This course is well worth the money paid for it! £15 is nothing when compared to the value of what your learning! I spose you get out of it what you put in to it.....if you go half hearted at it, you may not learn too much, but if you give it your all, you will finish the course with the basics of the language stuck in your mind! As feedback, I would have liked to see the little short videos set on auto-repeat instead of having to keep clicking whilst either practising the signing or writing down notes: I could have done with another couple of hands!

What a great introduction, really easy to follow and you get to do it at your own pace. Managed to do all assessments within 2 months. Admin support very helpful, respond to your queries straight away. Real sense of achievement when you finish and see your name on the certificate! Bring on Level 1 BSL!

I haven't quite finished all the assessments for this course yet but want to say that the course is excellent. I signed up here before I found a BSL evening course and what I learnt initially helped me learn more quickly when I did find an evening course because I already knew finger spelling and some basic vocabulary. Since I started my evening course, I have found Simon's online course very useful for consolidation, too, as it's easy to forget a lot from one week to the next since my evening classes are only once a week and the online signing jogs my memory considerably. This course is excellent value for money for those of us who can't afford the more highly-priced BSL courses, of which there seem to be many. I wish there were higher levels online than only the beginners' course, though, as a CD doesn't give the same motivation to get down to learning.

Absolutely BRILLIANT. I had a lot of fun doing this course. Its well structured, has nice little assesments to test your memory, and its easy to follow and go at your own pace. The videos are great and give you the option of chaning the way you view it to suit your style of learning which I found very useful. In around 2 weeks I have learnt an awful lot and its kept me busy while out of work! A real good course, cheers! I have recommended it to everyone! Cant wait for new stuff to learn on here and to go on and do my BSL 1 or 2.

FAB,FAB,FAB Its the best £15 i have ever spend i enquired doing this course at my college and was told its £125 i would have paid it but found this one online now i can use the money i have saved to learn level 1. Any one that that wants to learn BSL from young to old you will never regret spending the £15 i promise you. I love the idea that me and my kids can sign and other people wonder what we say specially if you want to say some thing private and discreet without the whole world knowing.
